Winter Church Begins

From now until Palm Sunday, Peace Church gathers for worship in the fellowship hall of Philippuskirche. The smaller space keeps us warm in winter and helps us live our commitment to care for creation.

Winter Church has begun!
For the colder months, all Peace Church worship services — including the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service and the Joint New Year’s Eve Service with Philippuskirche — will take place in the fellowship hall instead of the sanctuary.

The fellowship hall is bright, comfortable, and perfect for our community gatherings during winter. On Palm Sunday 2026, we will celebrate our return to the sanctuary with a joyful procession as we begin Holy Week together.

The move to Winter Church isn’t just practical — it’s also intentional. The sanctuary’s heating system runs on heating oil, and because the building is not insulated, warming it each Sunday uses large amounts of energy. By worshipping in the fellowship hall, we save around 300 € in heating costs per Sunday and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions.

This way, we stay warm, worship together, and take another small but meaningful step toward environmental stewardship — caring for the earth God entrusted to us.

So, dress comfortably, come a little closer together, and let’s fill the fellowship hall with warmth, joy, and song throughout the winter season.
